Our main character, Max Punchface, is a tough former cop who was born on the streets. He’s a master of kung fu and only speaks the language of kicks and punches. He interested in kicking ass and getting high scores. When we meet him first the only looks out for number one.
Max is based on 80s action heroes and 90s videos game characters. He needs to look tough from the outset, who knows if he has a soft heart under that gruff exterior.
Max will be designed and animated in classic pixel art style (especially when he goes into Sheep Crossing world). I may need to make the head and face bigger as the street fighter style sprites don’t have much scope for facial expressions.
I will be using close-ups to achieve extra personality and to help the audience understand what the characters are going through. For this I plan to make a more high-res version of the character – not just scale up the wide shot version.
